Combat Forms
How effective your character is at wielding their weapon determines how much damage they are able to do with it, when they succeed in hitting an opponent. Every character who wishes to utilize a physical weapon, whether that be a blade or bow, must invest points in one or more Combat Forms.

Skill Name Attribute Description or Purpose
Combat, Single Form Strength Your proficiency with using one-handed weapons.
Combat, Two-Handed Strength Your proficiency with using two-handed weapons.
Combat, Dual Weapon Agility Your proficiency at using a weapon in both hands.
Combat, Ranged Agility Your proficiency with ranged weapons.
Combat, Thrown Strength Your proficiency with thrown weapons.

Characters may have more than one Combat Form and each is independently advanced. The skill level in a particular Combat Form will determine the dice used when rolling for damage and also acts as a bonus to the result of the dice roll. Combat Forms may be switched during combat, however the combat form last used remains in effect until the player’s next turn.

Single Form Combat
Characters that only use a single weapon in one hand at a time, such as when using a sword and shield combination, will utilize the Combat, Single Form skill when determining damage. Players will roll once to attack their chosen target, using their weapon skill and their opponent may roll to defend against the attack. If the attack succeeds, the dice associated with the character’s skill level in the Combat, Single Form skill are rolled and the skill level added as a flat bonus to the damage.

Combat, Ranged and Combat, Thrown skills function the same as Combat, Single Form but for their respective weapon types. Ranged representing bows and crossbows, while Thrown represents throwing daggers, darts and martial arts stars.

Dual Form Combat
Players who envision their character dual-wielding (equipping a weapon in both of their hands) will utilize the Combat, Dual Weapon skill when determining damage. Players will roll twice to attack their chosen target, using their weapon skill and their opponent may roll to defend against both attacks as normal.

• Upon a successful hit with one weapon, dice associated with the character’s skill level in Combat, Dual Weapon will be rolled and half that skill level should be added as bonus damage. Round-down if necessary.

• Upon a successful hit with both weapons, a second dice-only roll will be added as bonus damage. If applicable, the target may roll their Armor once to mitigate the total incoming damage.

Two-Handed Form Combat
Players who see their character carrying a large two-handed weapon such as the classic Greatsword or Dwarven Great Axe, will utilize the Combat, Two-Handed skill when determining damage. Players will roll once to attack their chosen target, using their weapon skill and their opponent may roll defense as normal.

• Upon a successful hit, damage dice appropriate to the character’s skill level in Combat, Two-Handed will be rolled and one and a half times (1.5x) the character’s skill level should be added as bonus damage. Round-down if necessary.
