Surprise Attacks
A surprise attack is often the first round of combat and is managed by the Storyteller. If player characters are being surprised, the Storyteller will instruct them to roll defense or mitigation as necessary. The Storyteller may, at their discretion, roll for all adversaries involved in the surprise attack before player characters are allowed to react, and a bonus may be applied to said attacks.

Similarly, if the players are surprising an adversary or group of adversaries, the Storyteller may ask their players how each of their characters will act in the surprise round. In general, all player characters may act before any adversary is allowed to react, and a bonus to each action may be applied by the Storyteller.
